Just when I thought the ex-boss's behavior couldn't get more absurd: today she notified the ex-job that she is suing the place for an injury which she claims occurred on the day before she was fired. As far as I know, she's the only employee/former employee other than her daughter to NOT sustain an injury while working there... and the injury she is claiming is so incredibly laughable that I dearly wish I could write it here! Now, if she had *actually* had received an injury, she could file a workman's comp claim... except that she had allowed the WC insurance to lapse! Also, doesn't she realize that she will need medical records to back this up? Plus, the "cause" of her "injury" is actually something that was there because of her, specifically. Is she trying to get enough evidence for an insanity plea? Because she might have a shot at that....

my ex-employee who became violent upon my firing her and was later found guilty of battery by a jury of her peers filed a worker's comp claim against our non-profit because (talk about laughable) in the midst of trying to beat the crap out of me she got so upset that she had a heart attack and/or stroke (depending on which day she was telling the story). EXCEPT that 1.) she left here and went to see one of my board members to complain about me so was clearly fine enough to drive. 2.) she had a pre-existing condition 3.) her OWN doctor said that although she was hospitalized, it was because she had manipulated her meds to bring on symptoms 4.) SHE was the one that caused the whole incident (as evidenced by her guilty charge) and 5.) the whole incident occured because she had been FIRED (meaning she didn't get hurt on the job!
People will try ANYTHING! She was turned down for worker's comp - and darn pissed off about that!
I guess the moral of the story is: There are crazy people EVERYWHERE.
