A quick update on the state of my former place of employment:
Apparently the Board of Directors got over whatever nonsense was bugging them about my friend, and they called her and begged her to come back to work and help them sort out their cluelessness... she was there for two days, and was well on her way to getting the place back on track, when Something happened. We haven't yet been able to find out what the Something was, and this is driving us mad with curiosity.
Tuesday night, my friend got a call from the vice president of the board. He had *just* left an emergency board meeting, and told my friend that Something had happened that afternoon which "totally blindsided the board" (his words), and as a result of this Something, they simply didn't have the budget to keep her on... and might not even be able to make payroll! He also said that the board is trying to keep this something under wraps for now, so he wouldn't tell my friend what it was! Soooooo frustrating.
I know that they've discovered thousands of dollars of unpaid bills left behind by the ex-boss... but they already knew about that before this, so whatever it is, it's something worse!
Meanwhile, they had an all-day board meeting yesterday to discuss this Something. The curiosity is driving me mad! Meow! (NPH)

One of three things:
A.) Their funding was pulled
B.) They got served with legal papers that she's suing them
C.) They found out she had embezzled money while there or made a large withdrawal after leaving (since they likely did not remove her as a signator on the account at the bank).
But honestly, under the circumstances none of those things (or anything else for that matter) should have blindsided them!!!!
I have thought of all three of these things as possibilities. I doubt #1, as they get their funding from the local government to assist a local government agency... if they had no funding, the local government agency would be totally up a creek. So possible, but unlikely.
B and C are highly likely, as she threatened B and seems to have been doing C all along... although again, neither should blindside them at this point.
I'm wondering what could be the mysterious D option???
