Oh my goodness! There's no real point in writing about this anonymously now that it has gone public. I'm pretty sure that everyone who reads this blog actually knows me, and can therefore get in touch with me if they want links to the incredibly incriminating newspaper article (the ex-boss obviously made the mistake of trusting the reporter!) and to the ex-boss's ridiculously absurd statement on a local internet forum. On the off chance that you *don't* know me and would like further details, let me know and I'll post 'em here. I just figure there's no reason for me to waste time posting things anonymously that are now so freely available on public sites!

Well, I don’t think the ex-boss’s attempt at getting the current board members removed (see previous post) is going to be successful after what happened at last night’s board meeting! (Man, I wish I could’ve gone! Unfortunately, I had C class to attend...)

The meeting apparently had some revelations which, while not shocking to me at this point, were pretty shocking to most of the general public. Apparently, in addition to the tax fraud and numerous unpaid bills that were known about, the ex-boss had opened an account in the business’s name at a local home improvement center, and had spent thousands of dollars on things which NEVER came to the ex-job! (You know, fancy door knobs and expensive bathroom fixtures, the sort of thing that not only didn’t come to the ex-job, but which never would be purchased by a place like that.) That’s definitive proof that she was stealing… and the board announced that they are going to file criminal charges against her! (Apparently they’d wanted to make sure that they had an actual criminal case, not just a case of incompetence, before they involved the police.) Meanwhile, the forensic accountant they’ve hired is still investigating the bank account to determine where and to whom funds went, and they’re still trying to locate all of the accounts which had been opened in the name of the ex-job! Additionally, the ex-boss had been paying her husband several hundred dollars a week for “maintenance” – although he maybe did maintenance work up there once every other month… and she had been paying her daughter several hundred dollars a week for “help” she was allegedly providing from out of state! (Meanwhile, I know via the boyfriend that the ex-boss’s husband was on food stamps – despite the large salary his wife was bringing in, and despite the fact that he was getting paid several hundred dollars a week, albeit under the table!)

I am thrilled that the board has finally gone public with all of this, and that people in our local community and the national non-profit community in this sector can finally know the truth about what a terrible person the ex-boss is. The joy is, of course, thoroughly tempered by the knowledge that all this money was stolen from a cause that I care deeply about. So much suffering could have been alleviated if the ex-job had had the funds which she embezzled. Additionally, I know that several of my former coworkers – very hard-working people with families to support – had asked for raises several times, and had been told that there just wasn’t enough money. And unfortunately, since the board wants to get the place out of debt ASAP, I doubt raises are in their near future :-(

One of the newspaper reporters who was at the meeting (author of the article I mentioned in my previous post) wants to speak to me. (The Spy was at the meeting and he gave her my number. He’s also the reason why I know what happened there!) I figured I should run it past the board first, as they did ask me to keep this confidential… although since they’ve gone public, I don’t know what the problem would be. Unfortunately, having my name in the paper would just anger the ex-boss and her psychotic family who like to threaten me with bodily harm and dead pets (NPH!). So I bought some time by telling the reporter I had to run it past the board while I decide if I should talk to her or not. Thoughts?

I don't have much time to write right now, but the ex-boss seems to have found a flaw in the ex-job's bylaws showing that the current board was illegally elected... article in the local paper. Email or message me and I'll send you the link if you're interested. Since it was the *previous* board that hired her, I'm guessing that her next tactic will be to say that if they were illegally elected, then they didn't have the authority to fire her.

The boyfriend was here this weekend. No, I didn’t kick him out. I have to admit, we actually had a good time.

Four years ago I was in a long distance relationship with a guy that I totally fell for… I wonder if I would have viewed him differently if I’d lived with him or if we’d even lived in the same city. As it was, I was only able to see him once a month, usually for a 3 day weekend, and we always had a great time. Having the current boyfriend working out of state and only popping home for a long weekend is quite pleasant. Sadly, I suspect that won’t last. He does intend to come back here for good at some point. Bah.

The boyfriend’s brother lives with their mom, my ex-boss. I’ve always gotten along well with the brother. He’s the sort of guy who is fun to hang out with, but whom one should never, ever date. (He has at least 3 girlfriends that I know about, none of whom know about each other!) Anyway, I only ever hang out with the boyfriend’s brother when the boyfriend is around, so I haven’t seen him since all this drama with their mom started.

This weekend, not only did the boyfriend drive down to see me, but one of his brother’s girlfriends drove in from out of state to see him. This girlfriend knows (but according to her, doesn’t really like) the ex-boss’s daughter, sister to the boyfriend and his brother – you know, the one who keeps telling people she wants to kill my pets and put me in the hospital, among other psychotic things.

Anyway, I had to work late on Saturday (the schools were putting on a weekend event for the kids at the local community college), and as I was leaving (around 9pm) the boyfriend called to ask if it was OK for his brother and brother’s girlfriend to come over for the evening. I said that as long as he wasn’t crazy and talking about killing me like the rest of his relatives, that wouldn’t be a problem.

The first thing the brother said when he saw me was, “It’s good to see you, Anonymity. I’m staying out of that drama between you and my mom though.” I told him I had no drama, it was all in her head… and he said that all he had heard for the past three weeks was her bitching about me, and that he was just sick of hearing it. (Gee, does she obsess much?)

I apologized to the brother and his girlfriend for not having much in the way of food/drinks at the house, but that I hadn’t learned they were coming over until I was on my way home from work. To this, the girlfriend asked, “You were at the Non-Profit this late?” (instead of “non-profit” she actually said the name of my ex-job) I explained where I actually work and what I was doing, and she said, “Well you work at the Non-Profit, too, right?” To which I told her that no, I hadn’t worked there since August. She was really, really surprised by this, and said that all the ex-boss’s daughter had talked about for the past two or three weeks was how *I* had gotten them fired from the Non-Profit so that I could take it over! Apparently the ex-boss’s daughter, and I guess the ex-boss as well, believe that I not only work there, but that I am the new Director!

My response to this was “Wow, they really are crazy.” The girlfriend heartily agreed.

(Additionally, I’d heard the ex-boss and her daughter bitch for months about this particular girlfriend, about what a terrible person she was, and about how their son/brother could do so much better... Meanwhile, I liked her a lot, and felt rather bad that she was so in love with someone who was treating her so very badly.)

Apparently the ex-boss stopped by the ex-job today. The person (we'll call her Interim Secretary) they have working behind the desk had been told that if the ex-boss showed up, she was to call 911 immediately and have her removed from the premises. Well, she showed up with a double dose of honey on her tongue, was super sweet and told Interim Secretary that she had just received permission from the ex-job's lawyer to come on the premises to reclaim her things... and the Interim Secretary believed her. Not only did she NOT call the cops, but she let the ex-boss leave with stuff - and god knows what she took. As far as my friend, the Spy and I know, there wasn't anything left up there that was the personal property of the ex-boss, so no doubt she was up to something nefarious. After she left, the Interim Secretary called one of the board members and learned that she'd just been had. Ooopsie.

Meanwhile, while she was on the premises, the ex-boss told the Spy that her lawyer was going to shut the place down, and her lawyer was going to make sure that the renovations they're doing were halted.

Also, earlier in the day, my friend had stopped by the ex-job while one of the board members was there. Said board member was bemoaning the fact that they had all been naive and foolish enough to trust the ex-boss, even when the complaints and allegations began rolling in. You think? Meanwhile, whatever has "blindsided" them must be debt/embezzlement related, as this board member told my friend that the financial situation of the place is far worse than they had thought just two weeks ago. My friend was getting ready to press for more details when members of the public arrived and they had to cut their conversation short.
The boyfriend is coming home tonight. Supposedly just for the weekend, although usually when he says that, it ends up being at least a month. Although he has another out of state court date for mid-November (he rear-ended somebody while he was up there for this last court date), so he'll have to head back up there for that, and then work up there to pay off his fine. I wish I could say that I was excited to know that he was coming, but I'm feeling pretty indifferent.

A quick update on the state of my former place of employment:

Apparently the Board of Directors got over whatever nonsense was bugging them about my friend, and they called her and begged her to come back to work and help them sort out their cluelessness... she was there for two days, and was well on her way to getting the place back on track, when Something happened. We haven't yet been able to find out what the Something was, and this is driving us mad with curiosity.

Tuesday night, my friend got a call from the vice president of the board. He had *just* left an emergency board meeting, and told my friend that Something had happened that afternoon which "totally blindsided the board" (his words), and as a result of this Something, they simply didn't have the budget to keep her on... and might not even be able to make payroll! He also said that the board is trying to keep this something under wraps for now, so he wouldn't tell my friend what it was! Soooooo frustrating.

I know that they've discovered thousands of dollars of unpaid bills left behind by the ex-boss... but they already knew about that before this, so whatever it is, it's something worse!

Meanwhile, they had an all-day board meeting yesterday to discuss this Something. The curiosity is driving me mad! Meow! (NPH)
